DIE WELT IST GROSS … ist die humorvolle und bewegende Geschichte von Alex, der nach seinen Wurzeln sucht.
Bulgarien 1980. Alex Kindheit beginnt glücklich mit der Großfamilie in der idyllischen Dorfgemeinschaft. Als sein Vater Schwierigkeiten mit dem Regime bekommt, fliehen die Eltern mit dem kleinen Alex nach Deutschland. Dort zerbricht die Familie. Der unbehütete Alex verwahrlost.
Deutschland 2006. Alex Eltern sterben bei einem Autounfall. Alex hat eine Amnesie. Alex‘ charismatischer Großvater, Bai Dan, holt ihn zurück nach Bulgarien. Auf der Reise, durch die Orte seiner Kindheit, kommt bei Alex langsam die Erinnerung und die Lust am Leben zurück …
